Eguisheim Christmas market: the most traditional

Nestling in the Alsatian wine producing area, Eguisheim is always popular with visitors thanks to its authenticity. The winegrowers’ houses back onto the ramparts and are laid out in concentric circles around the castle of the Counts of Eguisheim. The picturesque narrow streets, the multicoloured facades and the traditional half-timbered buildings all contribute to the charm of this town of the Alsatian Wine Route. The proof is that it was awarded the much coveted title of "Favourite Village of the French" in 2013.

With such an enchanting setting, small wonder that Eguisheim’s Christmas market enjoys an outstanding reputation. At nightfall, the maze of cobbled streets are superbly illuminated, and the subtle interplay of light and shadow creates a warm and cosy atmosphere. In the little huts of the Christmas market, craftsmen and designers propose regional products and craft specialities. Many activities are also organised to ensure that you enjoy a great Christmas in this attractive mediaeval village.
