Regional trains

Turckheim

Travel time: 10 min. by regional train

Located in the very heart of the Alsatian wine producing area, this medieval village comes to life each evening at nightfall when they open one of their Advent calendar windows. A surprising ceremony derived from an extremely old Rhenish tradition. Share a traditional Christmas here in one of the jewels in the crown of the Alsatian Wine Route.

Sélestat

Travel time: 15 min. by regional train

As the capital of the Land of the Christmas Tree, Sélestat is rightly proud of the fact that its Humanist Library contains the first written mention of a Christmas tree dating from 1521. The Christmas tree theme can be seen all over town, both in the decorations and the various activities proposed. If you're looking for a traditional Christmas around the Christmas tree, then head for Sélestat.

Munster

Travel time: 30 min. by regional train

The Christmas market in this town nestling at the foot of the Vosges Mountains has been organised around the theme of Alsatian Christmas biscuits, the legendary "Wihnachtsbredele". However, you should certainly not overlook the other Alsatian culinary specialities including the well-known cheese originating from this valley: the Munster. Try Munster if you are tempted by a traditional gourmet Christmas.

The Castle of Haut-Koenigsbourg

Travel time: 15 min. by regional train + 30 min. by shuttle – weekends only

Visit the castle for a mediaeval Christmas! From Colmar, hop on a regional express train for Sélestat. At weekends, the shuttle will take you from Sélestat railway station to the castle of Haut-Koenigsbourg.
