The land of Hans Trapp, a cousin of the famous Père Fouettard, borders the huge and mysterious Haguenau forest. This is an enchanting land, in the heart of a region known for its valleys and which is home to charming villages with traditional homes, including Seebach, Hoffen or Hunspach, which are ranked among the finest in France. This is also a land of traditional pottery makers, including the glazed earthenware from Soufflenheim and salt-glazed stoneware from Betschdorf. History has also left its mark on the area as visitors will come across the remains of castles, with a good example being the Fleckenstein which was one of the largest in the region and which gave rise to the legend of the giants.
