Christmas in Colmar: a warm and friendly atmosphere
Colmar has a special place all its own as part of Alsace's Christmas traditions. Here, visitors can discover the fairytale world of this town of art and history, whose incredible architectural heritage provides the perfect backdrop for the Christmas celebrations! Colmar bids you a warm welcome as it offers you all the splendour of its illuminated pedestrianised streets as you discover its five Christmas markets set up around the Place des Dominicains, the Petite Venise (Little Venice), and the Koïfhus. Deliberately designed as a lively entertainment feature, the Christmas decorations combine with the unusual night-time illuminations of the old town. A huge range of attractions help to make Christmas in Colmar truly unique, including concerts, storytelling, Father Christmas' giant letterbox, and an illuminated ice skating rink in Place Rapp. In times gone by, employees working for the town would soak the square in water which later naturally froze over to form a natural skating rink.
